The most common material for the roof is Teds Woodworking asphalt shingles. They are durable, relatively inexpensive and fairly easy to install. Shed builders in the Northeast are prone to using wood shakes. It's more expensive, but gives that authentic Cape Cod look. Another choice is a metal roof. These will outlast asphalt or wood shake roofs by far, but you will pay for it initially.

There are two main choices for doors. You can either buy them or build them. Building shed doors entails nothing more than a 2x4 frame and a piece of plywood on top. Then you trim the outside with 1x4 pine and paint. It takes a little time but is the most economical option. The only downside to wood doors is the can warp and are prone to deterioration over time. Metal pre-bought doors are another option. You pick out exactly what you want from a home center and install it. Metal doors will outlast wood doors by far and will not warp. They are more expensive however.Wood Clamps - These are very helpful when you need that third hand and you just don't have one. They are most commonly used when you are glueing pieces together and you need a tight joint.Table Saw - This is probably one of the most important tools in my wood shop. It might also have to do with the fact that this is my favorite tool in my shop to make my wood shop projects.
Router and Router Table - This is very important for detailing work as well as creating different style mouldings and trimsSliding Compound Miter Saw - Another one of my favorite tools and is like my right hand. This and your table saw are probably the cornerstones of your shop and also of your budget. A good table saw and miter saw are essential in my opinion.Wood Plane and Set of Chisels - Probably not one of those tools that you will use everyday but they still make the list because they serve a very unique purpose that not many other tools can fill. Trust me if you don't have it you will quickly realize how important they are lol
